Uzuni talks about "Marca", shows the vicissitudes of life and the realized dream of playing for Albania

Written by Adriatik BALLA 22 Maj 2023

The players of the red and black national team are ending a relatively good season with their teams. But there are those who recorded high performance and left their mark in different European countries and among them is Myrto Uzuni, part of Granada in the Spanish 2 league. He gave a long interview to one of the biggest newspapers of this country, "Marca", where he confessed his life. The 22 goals scored by Myrto Uzuni are helping Granada to return to the elite as thanks to the positive performance Beratasi has managed to gain the attention of the prestigious media in Spain. The attacker explains all the steps followed in his career but also in life, from his family's financial difficulties, emigration to Greece, etc. "My journey in football started from my father, he always wanted me to become a football player. He insisted that I learn English as I would need it, he was my first coach and supported me from day one. Albania is not part of the European Union and we had to walk for three days before arriving in Greece. We had no money and we borrowed 15,000 euros, which is a lot for Albania, since salaries do not exceed 300 or 400 euros per month. We left for Greece for a better life. This experience is also my strongest point because it makes me appreciate the moment I am currently in. I can't go back to that life, my family had nothing and it was a very difficult life. Playing football in Greece was difficult for me, as I had to work to support my family. I knew that the only way out of that situation was football," he emphasized.
The return to Albania and the transition from Croatia to Hungary
Uzuni continues to narrate touching moments from his life. "We had no house, no money, we had nothing. But I didn't lose hope. But I always believed in myself. Then with Laçi I reached the qualification in Europe while Lokomotiva was a springboard for young players. I trained a lot because I knew my purpose in life. Nothing made me lose focus, I worked hard to be who I am. Ronaldo is an example for me. Everyone knows his sacrifice to reach those levels, the mentality is the most important. I had always followed Ronaldo through television, having him in front of me was an incredible feeling. In that match I also scored a goal (for Ferencvarosh) and for me it was a dream come true", he added.
The dream with Granada
Uzuni further added that he has dreams with Granada and that he does not betray him, as the club helped him when he needed a big team in the big championship. "Granada opened the doors of a championship like La Liga for me, it made my dream come true. I have greatly appreciated the help and support and I never forget those who reach out to me. I know if I keep scoring goals for Granada there will be a lot of calls. I am 100% focused on Granada and the objectives. I want to achieve much more in my career. What I can say is that if you believe in yourself, nothing is unattainable", concluded Uzuni.
