The world of athletics in Spain was shocked by the death of Antonio Gómez Luna 'Choya'.
The 36-year-old athlete was killed by a drunk driver while training on a bicycle in the municipality of Ricote.
A few hours later he was found and tested positive for alcohol and drugs.
Gómez Luna was initially transferred to the Virgen de Arrixaca hospital in Murcia, where he was admitted to the ICU for five days before he died.
The Athletics Federation of the Region of Murcia issued a statement lamenting his loss and also "as a protest, claim and awareness of the insecurity we suffer on the road".
Regarding this tragic similarity, María Victoria Molina, president of the Abarán Athletics Association, also reacted, who said: "It is not right, there are many things to do. And now I ask you to give strength to your family, team and relatives. We are left heartbroken."
