There are no surprises in the cup, the big teams of Superior qualify
Written by Adriatik BALLA 3 Shkurt 2023
Today, the Cup of Albania closes the round of 1/8 finals, a round that so far has produced no surprises in the result and no excitement in the game. The big teams of Superior closed the accounts as they wanted, not giving any chance to the teams of the First Category in front of them. It must be said that Tiran and Partizani won convincingly in both confrontations with their rivals, and Laçi, Kukësi, Egnatia and Kastrioti also passed. The level of matches was satisfactory.
Six qualified teams
Yesterday, the first six teams of the quarter-final round of the Albanian Cup were announced. Tirana won 1-0 against Lushnja with the goal of Regi Lushkja, the first for him in blue and white, and went to the next round with the overall result 4-0. Partizan scored three goals again against Korabi. "Bulls" won 3-0 with the goals of Eljon Sota, Brazilian Da Silva and Engjëll Hoti, qualifying with the overall score of 6-1. Kukësi ended the first match against Apolonia in a goalless draw, while today they won 5-0. Ergys Peposhi scored in the first half, while in the second came the goals of Fluturim Domi (2-goals), Gabriel Barbosas and Jakup Berishas. Laçi beat Tomori 2-1. The goals were scored by Santino Biba and Olsi Myrta. The Whites had won the first challenge 3-1. Egnatia-Skënderbeu ended in a 1-1 draw. Mishel Agbekpornu's own goal gave the advantage to the Korça team, but the locals equalized in the second half thanks to Fernando Medeiros' goal. In the end, Egnatia celebrated after the 0-1 victory in the transfer. Kastrioti-Dinamo did not produce any goals. The Croatian team qualified for the quarter-final round after a 3-1 victory in the first leg. Vllaznia-Bylis (2-0) and Teuta-Erzeni (1-1) matches will be played today.
Today will be played the last two meetings of the 1/8 stage of the final, where undoubtedly the derby duel between Teuta and Erzen is very interesting and exciting. We emphasize that the first match ended in a 1-1 draw, so the qualification remains open. Teuta's only advantage is the pitch factor, but being a derby this would hardly change anything. Perhaps the fact that they have experience in such meetings and know how to get the best at decisive moments can change for the better. But it remains, however, an open challenge and the qualification is open. The same cannot be said for Vllaznina, which defeated Bylis in Ballsh 2-0 and will host them in Shkodër today, so it has great chances to go to the quarterfinals. Coach Mirel Josa's brotherhood is thus the favorite to pass the round.
The schedule of the quarterfinals
According to the scheme predetermined by the AFL, in Group A in the quarter-finals of the Cup, Kastrioti will face Tirana. While in Group B, Egnatia will compete with Laçi for a place in the four. Partizan is waiting to learn who the quarter-final opponent is from Group A, at the end of tomorrow's challenge between Vllaznia and Bylis. While in Group B, Kukësi is the one who will see the Teuta-Erzeni challenge with great interest, as the name of the quarterfinalist he will face will be revealed there.
