For this reason, the commission decided to punish him with the deduction of 10 points". Everton reacted immediately with a statement shared on its official website. "The club considers that the commission has received a disproportionate and unfair punishment and therefore will appeal. Everton insists it has always been open and transparent in the financial information it has provided to the Premier League and has always respected the integrity of the process. For this reason, we reject the accusations that we acted in bad faith. Insistence that both the severity and the weight of the punishment are neither fair nor reasonable, taking into consideration the evidence provided", reads the club's statement. Everton with 10 points less slips to the last place of the classification. The team was coming off a positive 3-match run, with home wins against Crystal Palace and West Ham, as well as a home draw with Brighton.
