Petrit Hoxha, the most successful Albanian barbell coach

One of the prominent names that have made history at "Vllaznia" and our national weightlifting team in the role of coach is undoubtedly Petrit Hoxha. This distinguished name personifies a man with unique, sporting and intellectual values ??everywhere, which has enabled to him to take the helm of the Shkodra barbell and of our team to take the helm of the representative team and lead it successfully to its heights, donating to the homeland of his city, many national champion titles, and champion medals, with names of history of champions and record holders such as S.Bishanaku, G.Barkiqi, A.Lagja, Xh.Prroni, D.Zaganjori, B.Islami, and D.Dekaj. Our Petrit as part of that city with a history in culture, sports and in art, was born in Shkodër on August 21, 1958. He took his first steps towards mastery in sports at the 8-year-old school 7 "Nëntori", in the basketball sports class, which was coached by the "Merited Master of Sports", Renato Radoja , one of the "stars" of Albanian basketball. So from basketball to barbell, this fact does not surprise me, that Petriti was born to become an athlete in heavy sports, and this fact was proven. At that time, Petriti was with the youth basketball team, training at the sports palace. The floor where Petriti trained was very close to the barbell gym, where champions in this sport trained. The power of this somewhat strange gym, made of bars, arouses Petriti's curiosity to look. Right there, immediately, he is caught by the passionate trainer and discoverer of young talents Surri Gjyrezi. This passionate trainer, with intuition and a "biblical" calm, filled Petriti's mind to stop at the barbell gym and start the story. It was 1975, only 18 years old, Petriti started with the youth, and then with the adults. He stayed at "Vllaznia" for 10 years, while he ended it successfully in 1987 at "Dinamo". His results in barbell were modest first category, but he will shine in it, we will see later. Thanks to his excellent intellectual training, he acquired two diplomas, that of a mechanical engineer, and that of the higher institute IKF Vojo Kushi, which served him to gain a theoretical and practical experience in sports, which he will receive the reward when he led Vllaznia and the National Team, he will score excellent results in the team and in the international arena. I remember Petrit well, when we were little, and in a class. He stood out among others as excellent in lessons, my math teacher assigned me to teach Titi math, this very difficult subject for me, which never entered my head.

From the barbell of the pedana in its direction

Ishte viti 1987, kur ai do emërohet si trajner pranë klubit shumësportësh “Vllaznia”, e pas dy vitesh ai caktohet trajner profesionist pranë shtangës shkodrane, deri në vitin 1998. Gjatë kësaj periudhe në drejtim, ai udhëheqë me sukses “Vllazninë”, duke i dhuruar asaj 5 tituj kampion kombëtar, e 4 kupa Republike, falë talenteve e kampionëve, një listë me 9 emra të shquar kampionë e rekordmen kombëtarë, si dhe medalistë të ekipit tonë përfaqësues.

Si një ndër trajnerët më të mirë për kohën, në vitin 1990 ai caktohet trajner i ekipit tonë kombëtar të shtangës dhe e drejton atë me sukses për 6 vite me radhë deri në 96, duke shënuar rezultate historike nga grupi i bukur i asaj kohe.

Sukseset ballkanike, europiane e botërore

Në vitin 1991 ai udhëheqë përfaqësuesen tonë në Kampionatin Ballkanik, në Greqi, e shpallet kampion. Më 1992 udhëheqë përfaqësuesen tonë në kampionatin Europian në Vladislavovo të Polonisë, vendi i 5-të, test ky për shtangistët tanë për lojërat e 25-ta Olimpike të Barcelonës ku do shkëlqen Dedë Deka me rekordet e tija fenomenale të paprekura deri më sot. Në shkëputje 162.5 kg, e në shtytje 217.5 kg, duke u renditur i 7-ti në botë, për peshën e tij trupore 100 kg. Pas dy vitesh, në udhëheqje të përfaqësueses, Petriti korr sërish suksesin kampion Ballkani, në një qytet tjetër ballkanik, në Sarajevë. Pas një viti merr pjesë me sukses në kampionatin Europian të Sofjes, 1993, vendi i 6 ekipor. Një vit më pas në kampionatin botëror 1994, zhvilluar në Stamboll, përfaqësuesja jonë në drejtim të tij, renditet në vendin e 9-të. Suksesi më me vlera për Petritin është kampionati Europian për të rinj, shtator 2008, në Durrës, ku të rinjtë tanë nën drejtimin e tij u renditen në vendin e 2-të me 5 medalje ari, 2 argjendi e 3 bronzi. Suksese këto që u përsëriten më pas në aktivitete të tjera ballkanike, turne apo mitingje të ndryshme ndërkombëtare, si në Greqi, e në vendet e tjera ballkanike, duke qenë kudo i suksesshëm në krye të shtangës, e duke pasuruar Shqipërinë me medalje, me talentet e shquar, elitarë, kampionë e rekordmenët e medalistët shkodranë, si G.Barkiqi në peshën, 52 e 54 kg, S Bishanaku, 67, 75, 82 apo dhe 90 kg; B. Islami 75 e 82 kg; D. Zaganjori në 75 e 82 kg; A Lagja në 62 kg, për të rinj, si dhe 85 kg deri në 110 kg për të rritur; Xh Prroni, D Dekaj, 100 deri në 110 kg, ky i fundit deri në vitin 1993, se më pas ai shtegtoi në Greqi.

Arritje shkencore e shoqërore

Petriti, as a boy with an excellent professional and educational background in all areas of life, owns several foreign languages, and is the author of over 70 translations on topics with scientific literature, and over 30 topics on barbell grip techniques, in the two styles, separation and push, which served the Shkodran team, "Vllaznia", and the national team to score high results in weightlifting. Medals for all kinds of incompetent and servile, but there were no decorations for Petrit Hoxha

This name with history, was never appreciated, and received no moral reward. No one remembered this name in Shkodër, to complete a well-deserved file and send it to the presidency of I.Meta. Excuse me, but this former president has issued duty-free decorations for "carriers", "welders", "masoners", servile and incompetent "sololop", with the "grand master" decoration, these the aforementioned are the product of the Shkodër municipality, which without any knowledge in this regard, compiled the documentation according to party contributions, the incompetent and the servile. So Petriti did not deserve to be decorated because he was not part of this clan. As an intellectual with values, on 11. 11. 2017, he was decorated by the "European Weightlifting Federation", with the "Medal of Merit".

What the "Honour of the Nation" F. Kalleshi said about coach Hoxha:

"I have a special respect for Petrit. As a sportsman, he was at average levels. As a coach, "hats off to him". Although in modest conditions for the time, he brought a new spirit to our barbell, which is still felt today".

Family and life in Germany

Petriti currently lives with his large but wonderful family of two sons and two daughters in Germany. He never forgets the barbell. Although at the age of 65, he enjoys perfect health. 3 times a week he attends the noisy gym with bars, but he also has another more important family obligation. He and his son, Elti, who graduated with a doctorate, and head of the pavilion in Berlin, and with his daughter Rea, who also graduated in law for a lawyer in Berlin, accompanies them to various European marathons, even to distant America, where have scored excellent results in this sport discipline, being an example for Albanians wherever they are. Petrit's other two children are Flonja and Henri.
