Defeats against Chile and Sweden cost Albania heavily, the national team falls

The defeats against Chile and Sweden have dimmed a little the enthusiasm around Albania a few months before the start of Euro 2024. But at the same time, they have also brought consequences for Silvinho's team, which continues to slip in the FIFA rankings.

As a result of these two losses, when FIFA updates its rankings next week, Albania will have fallen again by two more places in the classification, from 64th to 66th, continuing a trend not positive at all. This ranking sees Albania 30th among European teams in this classification.


But it will not be the "weakest" European team in this respect. This place is reserved for the debutant Georgia who currently holds the 75th place in the FIFA ranking, 36th among the European countries in this classification.

Albania's three group rivals are among the top 10 teams in the FIFA rankings. Spain is in 8th place, Italy in 9th place and Croatia in 10th place in the world ranking.
