Haland in trouble, they do not recognize the name in Norway: It is used for shoes and clothes

Erling Haaland is taking over the world of football at breakneck speed, but that hasn't stopped the Norwegian authorities from blocking his trademark registration.

The author of 52 goals for Siti this season, has made three requests to the Copyright Office in Norway to register 3 trademarks according to the Norwegian portal "VG".

The first was to copyright his signature, the second was to copyright the goal celebration while doing yoga, and the third was to re-brand his name “Erling Haland”. But while the first two have been accepted, surprisingly what seems to be the simplest, his name, has not been accepted. Knut Andreas Bostad, head of section at the Norwegian Copyright Department, explained the reason why the 22-year-old attacker cannot register his name, as it is owned by a 29-year-old man from Oslo.

"We have an application for the name Haland that came to us on September 8, 2022, and they applied to use it on clothes, shoes and a number of other items," Bostad explained.

Haland now has three options: use the name without permission and take the battle to court against the current owner, secondly pay the current owner for consent of use, and thirdly, buy his name from the original owner.
