The scandal of Rubiales kissing Hermoso caused a stir, UEFA's reaction comes

UEFA has finally expressed a position on the President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, after his kiss with soccer player Jenni Hermoson, during the World Cup celebrations.

Rubiales kissed Hermoso two Sundays ago in front of millions of people, before trying to brush off the incident, calling his critics 'idiots'.

The RFEF then issued a statement on Hermoso's behalf, which she also denied, before Rubiales released a video in which he apologized if anyone was hurt by it, saying it was a mistake – a video he pressured Hermoso to appear.

Hermoso, through the union and its agency, announced last Thursday that it would pursue action against Rubiales, after which he was expected to resign, but instead he confirmed his position as head of the RFEF.

FIFA has since suspended Rubiales for 90 days, while the Sports Ministry has taken the case to a court to take action against him.

Rubiales also holds a position as UEFA Vice-President, who have so far remained silent on the matter until President Aleksander Ceferin finally spoke about the matter in an interview with L'Equipe.

"I am a lawyer and one of the vice presidents of FIFA. His case is in the hands of the International Federation's disciplinary body. Any comment I could make would sound like pressure. I just have to say that I am saddened by the fact that an event like this overshadows the victory of the Spanish national team", said Ceferin first.
