Have you passed COVID-19? The latest study has good news for all of you

The good news came from the virology laboratory of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases "Lazzaro Spallanzani" in Rome. According to research published in the journal Viruses. antibodies developed by the human body after COVID infection are still present at steady levels even 11 months after infection.

The researchers analyzed, between February 2020 and January 2021, 763 samples from 662 Covid-19 patients taken during hospitalization in Spallanzani or after infection and found that antibody levels were higher in people over age 60 and even higher were in persons who had experienced severe respiratory symptoms.

The most significant part of the research was the confirmation that most patients, who were followed for at least 6 months to 11 months, maintained a stable level of neutralizing antibodies. In about 60% of cases, neutralizing antibodies peaked between 1 and 2 months after infection, decreased slightly between 2 and 3 months, and then remained stable for up to 11 months after infection.
