"Alert and ready to act"/ Are tensions expected in the north of Kosovo? NATO makes the urgent move. The most recent decision is clarified

According to the deputy commander of KFOR, Luca Piperni, the peacekeeping forces cannot rule out the possibility of tensions in the north of Kosovo when the deadline for registering cars with Serbian license plates expires on October 31.
The NATO peacekeeping force in Kosovo (KFOR) announced that on September 27, exercises codenamed "Golden Sword" will take place in an exercise area of ??the "Novo Selle" camp, in the municipality of Vushtria. this town is located near Mitrovica.
In a press release, KFOR said that the EULEX Rule of Law mission will also be included in the exercise. "The exercise will be placed in a context of the emergency response operation, where KFOR personnel will continue to act in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the EULEX mission."
The KFOR exercise is part of the plans published at the beginning of this month by the KFOR troops, where it was announced that from September 27 to November 2 "they will conduct a routine exercise with one of its units reserves", and this will automatically lead to a temporary increase in the number of NATO troops on the ground. These exercises, which are also involving the NATO reserve units, will take place just one month before the deadline set by the Kosovo government for the ban on the circulation of cars with license plates of Serbian cities issued by the Serbian authorities to the Serbs of the north of Kosovo.
"Alert and ready to act"
Ten days ago, however, a military contingent from the United Kingdom arrived in Kosovo to participate in exercises aimed at maintaining "a high level of readiness and to contribute to maintaining a safe environment and freedom of movement for all the people in Kosovo".
On July 31, when the Kosovo government imposed reciprocity on travel documents and Serbian car license plates, there were clashes in northern Kosovo between Kosovo police and local Serbs. The Serbs set up barricades on the road and they left only when NATO peacekeeping forces intervened and the Kosovo government agreed to postpone the deadline for implementing the license plate decision until October 31./ Deutsche Welle
