"Treason, we will not give Kosovo"/ The European stabilization

Yesterday, March 14, the Serbs held a protest as they are against the European proposal for the stabilization of relations with Kosovo.

The Serbian right-wingers presented themselves to the protesters as students from different faculties of the University of Belgrade and stated that this was only a "democratic protest".

Protesters were also seen carrying nationalist and right-wing symbols.

In front of the Faculty of Philosophy, the organizers addressed the crowd, which chanted "treason" and "we will not give Kosovo".

The organizers of the protest demanded that at the meeting in Ohrid, on March 18, the European proposal be publicly rejected, that a decision be taken to give up the negotiations and not to implement all the agreements reached within the dialogue mediated by the European Union, and to negotiations begin under the mediation of the United Nations.

Protesters marched through the streets of downtown Belgrade, towards the building of the Constitutional Court of Serbia.

During the march, protesters were heard chanting "Serbs and Russians, brothers forever" and "Serbia for Serbs".

The preliminary protest, which was held on March 7, was announced through the Russian network, Telegram. The protest was called by the unregistered far-right organization Patrulla e Populli, which has organized several protests to oppose the Serbian Government's policies towards Kosovo.

Right-wing organizations and movements in Serbia oppose the European proposal for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.

The European proposal, also known as the Franco-German proposal, also has the support of the United States.

After six months of negotiations with Kosovo and Serbia, the EU last month published a proposal that is expected to lead the parties to a legally binding agreement for the normalization of relations.

However, in Article 2 of the proposal, it is mentioned that the parties must respect each other's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. The proposal also includes the commitment of the parties to respect all the agreements reached so far in the dialogue for the normalization of relations, as well as their commitment not to hinder each other in the integration processes.

Kosovo and Serbia have been holding dialogue under the mediation of the EU since 2011. However, both countries have different goals regarding a final agreement. Kosovo insists on mutual recognition, while Serbia seeks a compromise solution.
