The high representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, stated yesterday that the agreement reached in Ohrid is considered an integral part of the European path for Kosovo and Serbia. He emphasized that they will closely monitor the implementation of the agreement, which Kosovo and Serbia have agreed to. "We had long discussions, and finally we have an agreement, which will be considered as an integral part of the European path for both countries. The EU will be part of the negotiation chapters with Serbia, chapter 35, and will be included in the normalization documents and requirements for Kosovo," said Borrell. In the meeting of March 18, which took place under the mediation of the EU, the parties reached an agreement on the annex for the implementation of the Agreement towards the normalization of relations. This agreement, or as it is also known as the European proposal, Kosovo and Serbia accepted it on February 27, during the round of talks in Brussels. One of the points establishes the implementation as a condition for the progress of Kosovo and Serbia in the EU integration process and talks about the consequences in case of non-implementation. The agreement towards the normalization of relations, which has 11 articles, does not specifically mention mutual recognition. However, the document requires both countries to accept each other's documents and symbols, including: passports, diplomas and license plates.
