Train collision in Greece/ The railway company announces the final DECISION

The families of the victims from the collision of two trains in Larisa, Greece, and the injured will be compensated by the "Hellenic Train" line.

"Hellenic Train" has issued a statement regarding advances to cover the financial needs of those affected and the families of the victims.

The Greek media write that the decision is due to social sensitivity and that in its response to the tragic accident, the company has avoided full responsibility.

Allocation of damages:

- The family members of the victims will be compensated with 42,000 euros.

- Injured passengers will receive 5,000 to 1,000 euros in compensation.

- At the same time, the families of the dead, injured and other passengers of the fatal train will be given compensation of 300 euros for the material goods they lost.

In the framework of the decision given by the Management of the Hellenic Train to pay an advance to cover the immediate financial needs, both of the families of the passengers who died in the rail accident of the passenger train IC 62, dated February 28, 2023, and of the injured, passengers of the same accident, without this being in any way an acceptance of responsibility by the company in accordance with the provisions of European Regulation 1371/2007, but both for reasons of special social sensitivity and taking into account European Legislation and European Legislation and Practice in similar railway accidents, the procedure and details of payment of the respective advances as follows:
