After the elections in the north, Kosovo today concreted the three new mayors of the municipalities (names)

In the north of Kosovo, the 3 new mayors of the municipalities of Leposavi?, Zubin Potok and Zveçan are expected to be sworn in today. All three municipalities are inhabited by a Serbian majority.

The Government of Kosovo announced on Wednesday that, for security reasons, the new mayors will be sworn in in public buildings in these municipalities, and not in the municipal assemblies.

In Leposavic, the elected mayor, Lulzim Hetemi, will take the oath in the village of Bistrica, in the "Kadri Bistrica" ??elementary school.

The new mayor of Zubin Potok, Izmir Zeqiri, is expected to take the solemn oath in the village of Çaber of this municipality, in the facility of the municipal office for communities.

While in Zveçan, the mayor, Ilir Peci, will take the solemn oath in the village of Boletin, namely in the primary school "Isa Boletini", where the assembly of this municipality will also be constituted.

All three have won the mandate for mayor from the extraordinary elections held in the northern municipalities of Kosovo on April 23. These elections were organized after Lista Serbe, the largest party of Serbs in the country, in protest against the government's decision on license plates, left the institutions of Kosovo.

Members of the Serbian community widely boycotted the April elections and said they do not accept the results, namely the new leaders from the Albanian community. The participation in these elections was 3.47 percent.

Last week, on May 19, the new mayor of North Mitrovica - a municipality also inhabited by a Serbian majority, Erden Atiç, took the oath before the municipal assembly.

While the Municipality of North Mitrovica has its facility, in the other three municipalities so far, the municipal institutions have worked in the same municipal facilities according to the Kosovo system, but also the so-called temporary bodies, which work according to the Serbian system.

Even from official Belgrade, there have been reactions opposing the coming to power of Albanian mayors in the municipalities inhabited by Serbian majority. The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vu?i?, underlining that "they will never be accepted as presidents", said that this is an attempt to pressure the Serbs to leave their homes.
