After Belgrade, Lajcak also meets in Pristina: We want a Kurti-Vucic meeting that will bring positive results

After Belgrade, Lajcak also meets in Pristina: We want a Kurti-Vucic meeting

The European Union Special Representative for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Miroslav Lajcak, visited Kosovo yesterday, a visit that comes after a two-day stay in Belgrade where he held meetings with political leaders there. The news of Lajcak's visit to Pristina was announced by the spokesman of the European Union Peter Stano, who also clarified that the visit to Pristina has the same purpose as that in Serbia, ie preparations for the next meeting of the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue, at the level of leaders. . Upon arrival in Kosovo, Lajçak had a meeting with Presidents Vjosa Osmani and then with the Prime Minister Albin Kurti. Both meetings were held behind closed doors and the media were only allowed to take pictures at the beginning of the meetings. This was Lajçak's second meeting with Kurti in a few days, after the two met in Vienna, Austria on Monday, a meeting about which Lajcak wrote on Twitter that Lajcak had an in-depth discussion with Prime Minister Kurti on the current situation and dialogue. In a statement of the Press Office of the Presidency, in the meeting with Lajçak, President Osmani stressed that the success of the dialogue is important not only for the Republic of Kosovo, but also for the entire region. "She reaffirmed that Kosovo remains a committed and constructive party in the dialogue. In particular, she stressed the need for a clear message that the epilogue of this process should be mutual recognition ", it is said in the announcement. Osmani also underlined the urgency of addressing destabilizing trends in the region, emphasizing that recent developments in the region can not be seen only through the prism of Western Balkans issues, but as a direct opposition to the values ??represented by the European Union and democratic societies. On the other hand, Mr. Lajçak spoke about the need for EU activation in increasing the credibility of the enlargement process and confirming the European future for Kosovo and the Western Balkans. "He stressed that there is room for progress within the dialogue, while emphasizing the strategic importance of this process for the entire EU," the statement said. Regarding the meeting with Prime Minister Kurti, the EU Representative, Lajçak, said that preparations are underway for a meeting between Mr. Kurti and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vuçi., But that it is not only important to hold it. According to Lajçak, what is important is that concrete results are marked at the end of the meeting. "This week I have met twice with Prime Minister Kurti and talked with President Vucic. The reason is only the meeting between Kurti and Vuçi.. We are working in this direction but the reason is the result of this meeting. We want to have positive results. "The two leaders have previously held two meetings, but without any positive results from these meetings," he said.

Recent relations between Kosovo and Serbia
