Zelensky's warning of war in the Balkans, NATO gathers leaders, Stoltenberg sends a message to Russia

In the wake of the threats and after the declaration of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, that he has evidence that Russia is seeking to open a new hearth of conflict in the Western Balkans, NATO mobilizes. The Secretary General of the Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, will hold meetings with all Balkan leaders to send the message to Russia that NATO will not allow any kind of conflict in the Western Balkans.

On Monday, the head of NATO will start a three-day tour in the Balkans. The first meeting on the agenda is the one with the senior local and international political and military leaders of Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the same day, Monday afternoon, he will be in Kosovo where he will meet with President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

A visit is planned with Serbian scientists where the latest technology developed by NATO for the purpose of peace and security will be presented.

The whole tour will end with a joint meeting and conference between the Secretary General of NATO and the leaders of the Western Balkans in Skopje on Wednesday, November 22. Prime Minister Edi Rama is also expected to be present. In addition to the leaders of the region, the Croatian president and the Slovenian prime minister will also be at the discussion table.

Jens Stoltenberg's visit comes at a time of renewed tensions in the Balkans, especially those between Kosovo and Serbia after the terrorist incident in Banjska. Equally in the background of this intense tour are the discussions on the future of European Union sanctions against Russia due to the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine.
