During the joint press conference with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti in Istanbul, President Rexhep Tayip Erdogan stated that Turkey will be committed to Kosovo achieving more recognition. He also added that Turkey was one of the first countries to recognize Kosovo's independence and congratulated Kosovo on the eve of its 15th anniversary.
" Now there are 117 countries that recognize it. We will do intensive work to reach the target figure in terms of recognitions. I want to wish you the 15th anniversary of Independence right now" , Erdogan said.
Erdogan has also expressed his willingness to help Kosovo in its efforts to join NATO, the Council of Europe and the European Union.
" We are continuing our efforts for Kosovo to reach its deserved position in the international arena. We support Kosovo's vision for membership in NATO, the Council of Europe and the European Union" , he said.
Also, Kurti thanked President Erdogan for Turkey's vocal support for Kosovo's membership in NATO and the Council of Europe. Among other things, he said that Turkey was one of the main economic and commercial partners of Kosovo.
