A tunnel about 60 meters long has been discovered by the Macedonian authorities in the "Idrizova" Prison, dug by the convicts. In this prison, there is also a large number of convicts of Albanian origin.

The news was confirmed by Jovica Stojanovic, director of the Administration for Sanctions, who said that the prisoners were opening a tunnel to escape.

It is about 60 meters long and has support beams. The tunnel was opened in about four to five months and the lighting was solved by cables and lamps. A police investigation team is on the scene and more details are expected to be released later.

Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski did not want to comment on this event. In a press conference, he emphasized that the current director of KPU Idrizovo has been dismissed and Major General Zoran Jovanovski will replace him.

This penitentiary is also known for its poor cell and interior conditions. A few days ago, an Albanian prisoner in Idrizovo denounced on newsbomb.al, the difficult conditions, such as sleeping on the ground, food and denial of meeting with family members.
