The Italian media "InsideOver" has devoted an article to the situation in the North of Kosovo. Just as the political and military guilt that is known here, in the heart of the Balkans, places Serbia and its ties with Russia on one side and Kosovo, along with its relations with NATO, on the other. This situation, after recent events, makes the small nation the perfect suburb of the war in Ukraine, where both fronts can threaten each other. To complicate the whole situation, the attitude of mutual support that Kiev and Pristina have shown since the outbreak of the "special operation" seems to have added fuel to the fire.

Danger for Ukraine

Kosovo has always represented a delicate issue for Ukraine, as Moscow has always used this precedent to justify the annexation of Russian-speaking territories, first and then the occupation. Going back in time, the independence of Kosovo in 2008 had created many tensions in Europe, both in the UN, as well as a great confusion on the part of some European nations that were facing the internal turmoil of Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Slovakia and Spain. When in 2008 the European Union approved independence, the choice, supported by the United States, was far from unanimous, as it started a new battle with Russia and called into question Serbia's rapid integration into the European Union. Europe did not hesitate to challenge Russia's ambitions to regain a political role beyond the Urals. Moscow has built its worldview on this attitude, justifying interventions in South Ossetia, Crimea and Donbas. And it is precisely with this kind of argument that he fans the Balkan fire and is satisfied with the claims for a great Serbia.

The European divide

In addition to the license plate crisis, the complicated issue of Kosovo has reached the Council of Europe. On April 24, the committee of ministers of the Council gave the first consent for Pristina's entry into the institution with 33 votes in favor, 7 against and 5 abstentions.
