"The people chose me, not the ambassador"/ Kurti shows the "border" to the USA: I respect you, but...

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in a reaction to the local media, commented on the tense relationship between Kosovo and the USA after the recent events in the north.

He stated that he has a daily communication with the US ambassador in Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, but even though he has a special respect for him, he was chosen by the people and should be respected.

"To this people, I have to be God because that's why they brought me to this chair. I have special respect for Hovenier, even very special, but the people voted for me, not the ambassador. It is not an appointment by the prime minister", Kurti declared on KTV.

He said that it is not normal for him to agree with everything that is asked of him by the ambassadors.

"I have been cooperating with QUINT ambassadors, the EU and the American, for two years. We don't always agree on everything. It is not normal to agree on everything", Kurti emphasized.

Speaking about the public reactions, and even concrete punishments from the USA, Kurti said that the "fascist militia" in the north remains the most worrying.

"It is worrying (the American reaction), but more disturbing and worrying are the fascist militias in the north. Often you don't have ideal options. In this context, I believe that I have made the best possible solution", he emphasized.

The Prime Minister also recalled the many requests that Kosovo fulfilled to the ambassadors.
"In December they said postpone the elections, we postponed the elections. Then they recognized the elections. Then they said not to take the oath, but there can be no other job. I have daily communication with the American ambassador, almost weekly meetings. Don't expect me to agree with the ambassador on everything. Man has differences even himself", he emphasized.
