The agreement in Ohrid, the ambassador of Great Britain: Serbia and Kosovo took a bold step forward

The Ambassador of Great Britain in Belgrade, Shan McLeod, said yesterday that the leaders of Serbia and Kosovo have taken a bold and significant step forward by reaching an agreement on Saturday in Ohrid. McLeod congratulated on Twitter that both sides reached an agreement on the Implementation Annex of the Agreement on the Pathway to Normalization of Relations between Serbia and Kosovo. "Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandër Vucic took a bold and significant step forward this weekend by reaching an agreement on implementation," she wrote. The EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borrell said on Saturday evening in Ohrid, after a meeting with Vucic and Kurti, that both sides finally reached an agreement after 12 hours on how to implement the agreement that Serbia and Kosovo reached on February 27 in Brussels. The European proposal for normalization, consisting of 11 articles, does not specifically mention mutual recognition. However, it requires the parties to implement all the agreements reached so far in the dialogue for the normalization of relations, including the one for the formation of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority in Kosovo, which the Government in Pristina has rejected, with reasoning that it may jeopardize the functionality of the state.
