The sources of the European Union have rejected the assertions of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, that during the meeting with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, in Brussels, only he presented a sequenced proposal for the implementation of the agreement on the normalization of relations between the two countries , emphasizing that the EU has presented to the parties a plan for its sequenced implementation.

On Thursday, the next round of talks was held for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, which ended without any agreement between the parties.

Recalling that the High representative of the EU, Josep Borrell, has said that the EU has submitted the compromise proposal so that the implementation goes in parallel, the sources of the EU have said that already in June the special envoy of the EU for the dialogue, Miroslav Laj?ak, had presented a sequenced plan and for it there had been seven rounds of separate meetings with the parties so far.

Therefore, these sources say, Prime Minister Kurti's statement that his proposal was the only one on the table is "simply incorrect".

The document, in which the sources of the EU are called, mentions that the implementation would start with the "Opening of the negotiation process for the Statute of instruments for self-management of the Serbs in Kosovo", which means the Association of Municipalities.

At the same time, Serbia would no longer insist on the use of asterisks and footnotes, or the participation of UNMIK in regional forums.

Then the negotiations on the "Statute of self-management instruments for Kosovo Serbs" would be concluded.

The next step, according to this EU proposal, would be for the parties not to interfere in each other's internal affairs and to refrain from any form of violence or incitement to violence.

Kurti said that "Serbia's conditionality" for the formation of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority "has turned into the position of EU emissaries".
