France and Germany yesterday asked the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia to organize new elections in the regions affected by the unrest as soon as possible. The news was given by the French President Emmanuel Macron, in a conference during the summit in Moldova, after the meeting with the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, the President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic. At the end of the four-party meeting, President Osmani expressed her readiness for Kosovo to consider holding elections in the four northern municipalities as a possibility. The head of state explained that the law allows the organization of a new vote, but it must happen through a petition initiated by Serbian citizens living in the northern municipalities. Macron, together with the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, sat the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, with the Serbian President, Aleksandër Vucic, at the same table. "We just finished the meeting with the four of us together, with both presidents at the same table, and we asked for a clear decision by next week. What we asked from both sides is very simple: the organization, as soon as possible, of new elections in those four municipalities as part of Kosovo's commitment, the clear participation in these elections of Serbian parties, as and with high priority, a quick solution to the issue of the association of municipalities with a Serbian majority on the part of Kosovo", said Macron.

The position of Vjosa Osmani

President Osmani expressed her readiness for Kosovo to consider holding elections in the four northern municipalities as a possibility. "At the end of the meeting with Macron and Scholz, they proposed to have an informal discussion with the president of Serbia, of course the High Representative of the EU, Josep Borrell, was also present at the meeting. We had a joint meeting for about 10 minutes, where it was proven once again that Vucic is not interested in solutions or peace, but in fact is the main source of instability in our entire region. But, I will continue to work with our partners, with Germany, with France, with the USA as our key ally, but also with other countries on some of the issues proposed by President Macron and Chancellor Scholz, and that the US Secretary of State, Blinken, has also proposed. There may be elections ahead. We have a common will, and that is for a sovereign and independent Kosovo to be successful throughout its territory. Of course, never running away from the obligations to protect all citizens, including the Serbian minority", Osmani emphasized. She said that the solutions for de-tensioning the situation exist, but they must be in compliance with the Constitution of Kosovo.

Reagimi i Kurtit

Albin Kurti, ndryshe nga lëkundja e Vjosa Osmanit nuk shfaq shenja tërheqjeje për situatën në Veri pasi është në zbatim të Kushtetutës. Ai u shpreh se ka një komunikim të përditshëm me ambasadorin e SHBA në Kosovës, Jeffrey Hovenier, por edhe pse ka një respekt të veçantë për të, ai është zgjedhur nga populli dhe duhet t’i dalë për zot. “Këtij populli unë duhet t’i dal Zot sepse për këtë më kanë sjellë në këtë karrige. Për Hovenier kam respekt të veçantë, bile shumë të veçantë, por mua më ka votuar populli e duhet t’i dal për zot, nuk më ka votuar ambasadori. Nuk është emërim kryeministri”, ka deklaruar Kurti në KTV. Ai ka thënë se nuk është normale që ai të bjerë dakord me gjithçka që i kërkohet nga ambasadorët. “Ka dy vjet që bashkëpunoj me ambasadorët e QUINT-it, atë të BE-së dhe atë amerikan. Nuk pajtohemi çdo herë për gjithçka. Nuk është normale të pajtohemi për gjithçka”, ka theksuar Kurti. Duke folur për reagimet publike, e madje edhe ndëshkimet konkrete nga SHBA, Kurti ka thënë se më shqetësuese mbetet “milicia fashiste” në veri. “Është brengosëse (reagimi amerikan), por më shqetësuese dhe brengosëse janë milicia fashiste në veri. Shpeshherë nuk ke opsione ideale. Në këtë kontekst besoj që kam bërë zgjidhjen më të mirë të mundshme”, ka theksuar ai.
