Belgrade in a "war with time", the UN accepts Podgorica's amendments on Srebrenica, Vu?i? "exposes" Spaji?'s government, this is what Montenegro is trying to achieve at the expense of Serbia

Belgrade in a "war with time", the UN accepts Podgorica's

The Montenegrin government seems to be playing with "fire", as it provokes its Serbian neighbor with its stance on the resolution for Srebenica. Controversy was first sparked by the announcement by the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajic, that his country would vote on its approval, a statement that Belgrade considered shameful. Spajic has reiterated that Montenegro will vote in the United Nations General Assembly on the resolution on Srebrenica and that there is nothing against or support for a possible resolution on Jasenovac. "We want partnership relations, not to fight with them. We don't want to be on anyone's side, we don't want it to look like we were sidelined with Bosnia and Herzegovina against Serbia. They have their own problems and we don't want to argue with them. We want to reduce tensions", said Spajic. He also announced that he would submit amendments to the resolution, which were apparently accepted. Now we wait to see what happens on Thursday.

Amendments of Montenegro

The Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajic, has said that the United Nations has accepted that the amendments of the official Podgorica be included in the draft Resolution on Srebrenica to be voted on May 23. "The essence of the amendments we sent is there and we think it is an additional contribution to regional reconciliation and good relations between Serbs, Bosniaks and all other peoples in the Balkans," Spajic said to Radio and Television of Montenegro. Montenegro's amendments were submitted a little later in the process of proposal and preparation for the session, but earlier the UN announced that the competent bodies are "trying" to "cope" the intervention of the Government in Podgorica.

Disruption of the government

The government in Podgorica, through amendments, requests that the Resolution specify more clearly that court judgments related to genocide are taken against individuals, and not against ethnic groups or states, and to confirm the inviolability of the Dayton Agreement. The authorities in Podgorica are not united in their stance on the Srebrenica Resolution, which is strongly opposed by the current Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro Andrija Mandic and one of the leaders of the former Democratic Front, Milan Knezhevi?. They initiated the Assembly to adopt the Resolution on Jasenovac as soon as possible, which is considered to be a form of pressure on the Government to give up its support for the Resolution on Srebrenica.

"Crisis" with Serbia

Apparently, Belgrade is "disappointed" by these moves, which have not been well received. "The Serbian Progressive Party expresses deep regret for the decision of the authorities in Montenegro to support the Resolution on Srebrenica, which is directed against the vital national interests of the Serbian people as a whole", announced yesterday the vice-chairman of the Main Board of the SNS and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Marko Djuric. "Unlike a number of European countries that will not vote for the resolution, some of which are also members of the EU and NATO, the Government of Montenegro has decided, on a key issue of its policy, against the will of a large part. of citizens, to be openly and publicly sidestepped with those who want to create assumptions about the placement of the Serbian people in a subordinate position, aimed at abolishing the jurisdiction of Republika Srpska and collecting war reparations, which certainly would not even pass from Mali i Zi", says the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marko Gjuri?.

Fraud scheme

As he further says, the decision is "inappropriate and insulting", as well as against the reconciliation of Serbs and Bosniaks. "Therefore, President Vu?i? rightly and with full reason exposed this ugly and lying fraud", he adds. As Gjuri? adds, Montenegro will not have any benefit from this kind of policy and even less respect from its European partners, many of whom are geographically and culturally significantly different, he remembers. do not vote for this type of resolution. "Montenegro should not throw salt in the wound of the Serbian people at the expense of the flattery of foreign power centers", concludes Gjuri?.
