Albin Kurti from CCN responds to critics: I will not hand over Kosovo to fascist

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, speaking about the events in the north of the country, said that he is working with the international factor, especially with the USA and the EU.

In an interview for CNN International, Kurti said that he will not hand over the Republic of Kosovo to "fascist militias", referring to the crowds of Serbs who have been protesting violently for two days now in the three municipalities of the north of the country.

"All international factors have recognized the elections that were held on April 23. When you know the process and the results, then the mayors should go to the municipalities. Who else should be there, if not the presidents. We are working closely with international factors, especially with the USA and the EU, which we consider very valuable allies and partners. We will do our best. But, he will not hand over the democratic Republic to the fascist militia", Kurti said.

Kurti spoke about the placement of members of the Kosovo Police in the facilities of the northern municipalities of Zubin Potok, Leposaviq and Zveçan.

He said that the number of members of the police should be increased, as there are many members of criminal groups and parallel structures of Serbia outside the municipal buildings.

"The police should be present in the northern municipalities as in any other municipality. I cannot have only a number of policemen outside (municipal buildings) who must enforce the law and create security, when there is a large number of increased criminal groups and parallel structures of Serbia in that area", said Kurti.

He further said during the interview that in the north among the protesters there were ultra-nationalists paid by Serbia "who admire Putin".

"We are not dealing with peaceful protesters, but with criminal gangs, extremists, ultra-nationalists of the right wing, who are being paid and ordered by Belgrade, and who admire Putin. It is the fascist militia that attacked our policemen, KFOR, and also journalists in the field. It is not possible not to have mayors in municipalities. "Power in Kosovo is not won by shock bombs, crimes, violence, but it is won by elections," Kurti said.

Kurti said that "there are dozens of filmings and photos, which show that Serbian militia are on the front line of those who are protesting".

As for the Association, Kurti said that "he does not neglect or deny the past documents". But he says that a Basic Agreement was reached in February and its implementation should be sequenced.
