Albin Kurti gives a strong message: the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue ends with mutual

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said yesterday that he was ready to sign on February 27 the basic agreement for the normalization of relations with Serbia, which according to him contains an advancement towards mutual recognition between the two states. He made the comments in a video message to a forum at the University of Mannheim in Germany, where he said he hoped the refusal of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to sign in Brussels was not a sign that he disagreed with the content of the agreement. On February 27, the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said yes to a plan supported by the United States, but the document was not signed due to disagreements about its implementation, which will require more talks. "We believe that the Basic Agreement between Kosovo and Serbia contains an advancement towards mutual recognition between the two states. We believe that the full normalization of relations requires a mutual recognition at the heart of the agreement, as well as respect for the rights of minorities in both countries. Security and peace in the region of Europe is necessary. We are ready to make progress despite the big challenges", Prime Minister Kurti said on Sunday. Prime Minister Kurti and President Vu?i? have confirmed their participation in the Ohrid meeting to discuss the roadmap for the implementation of the plan, which does not foresee mutual recognition, but requires the parties to respect each other's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. The European envoy for Kosovo-Serbia talks, Miroslav Lajçak said during a visit to Pristina on Thursday and Friday that "in order to become a legally binding document, agreement is needed for its implementation. It is necessary to know what the steps are, the rhythm and the time limits".
