The high US official against global corruption lands today in Albania, DASH list of "non-women", will the oligarchs who finance Sali Berisha be sanctioned like the case of Dodik in Bosnia?

The high US official against global corruption lands today in Albania, DASH list

The official of the US Department of State, Richard Nephew, who is the anti-corruption coordinator, is coming to Albania today. His visit, which also extends to Montenegro and Lithuania, underscores the ongoing commitment of the United States of America to fight corruption in the Balkan region, strengthen the rule of law, and address ongoing common challenges. Today, Nephew will visit Tirana, where he will meet with representatives of the government and civil society. He will discuss the work being done in the fight against corruption and further cooperation in this regard. The visit of the American State Department official comes just a few days after the Court of Appeal gave the seal to former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, declared "non grata" by Washington for corrupt acts that undermine democracy in Albania. After the court decision, the American embassy made it clear that there will be no cooperation with persons declared "non grata" and also warned those who go after Berisha that they should once again think about the step they are taking and be careful in their relations with those sanctioned by the US. This clearly shows the agenda of the American official, which has not included any other political actor in the country except the government. The Americans have warned that there will be other "non-women" and two days ago the second phase of their plan to eradicate corruption in the Balkans started.

Will the case of Dodik be repeated with Berisha's financiers?

Radio Free Europe (REL) reported that the Americans sanctioned two days ago a network of two individuals and seven entities said to provide large sources of income for the president of Republika Srpska of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, who was sanctioned , also, from the USA, and for his family. "Dodik has used his official position to increase his wealth through companies related to him and Igor Dodik," the US Treasury Department said in a statement. US authorities have said they condemn Dodik's ongoing efforts to erode the institutions that have guaranteed peace and stability in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the region. The US has also stated that it will continue to expose the fraudulent schemes that have enabled Dodik and his family to exploit their own people for personal gain. This is a clear message for the financiers of the former prime minister Sali Berisha who have kept all this time and continue to keep the former prime minister with money in his personal fight with justice and the USA. Until Berisha received the PD stamp, he had no funds from the CEC. Since September 16, 2021, when he started his first 'pulpit' in the fight against Basha and the USA, the former prime minister has held hundreds of meetings throughout the country. He has rented premises, halls all over the country, security guards, escorts, etc. So far, no one has given any information about who pays the halls in the whole country to Berisha? Who finances Berisha's bodyguards, the expensive cars that accompany him, the fuel, etc.? DASH has warned that in addition to oligarchs and businessmen, banks and other financial institutions that carry out transactions for persons or economic entities subject to sanctions will also be on the black list. "The objective of the sanctions is multiple. We want to isolate that person, but also to draw international attention to their activities, which are of great concern to the US because of the possible consequences. This makes it difficult for them to engage in international financial transactions, as well as travel to the US," said a senior American official some time ago. According to them, more American sanctions are expected for those who undermine peace, stability and territorial integrity. This means that the first strikes that started in Bosnia are not surprising to start in Albania as well.
