Several mayoral candidates of the Democratic Party, led by Enkelekd Alibeajn, have withdrawn from participating in the May 14 local elections.
The journalist of Euronews Albania, Ardit Hoxha stated that there are three candidates who have not been approved by the Presidency of this political force. Hoxha said that the candidates are Genc Doçi for the Municipality of Kurbin, Bujar Vreto for the Municipality of Librazhdi and Ibrahim Bruka for the Municipality of Vora.
"These three candidacies have not been approved. Also, the reasons are different. There were discussions to some extent, even with high tones during the Presidency meeting. At the moment when they were not submitted as candidacies in the documentation that DP has deposited in the CEC, then, automatically, for these three, but also for all other possible candidacies, the chance of being candidates for the local elections of May 14 is zero. ", he emphasized.
