"Traffic was favored by an Albanian minister" / SPAK is set in motion immediately after the testimony of the Italian businessman that the justice collaborator returned

"Albanian groups are supported by senior state officials, including a minister," was the statement circulated yesterday by 54-year-old justice collaborator Antonio Guastalegname, part of the Ndrangheta mafia.

It is reported that the Special Prosecution is expected to have a communication with the Italian authorities regarding the testimony of the collaborator of justice.

Official sources from the anti-corruption structure indicate that SPAK will communicate with Italian counterparts to clarify the situation and obtain information if there is anything concrete about the involvement of Albanian citizens in criminal activities in the neighboring country.

This is not the first case where our authorities receive information and clues to register criminal proceedings in our country for Albanian citizens as involved in criminal activity in the neighboring country. The first case is that of former Minister Tahiri, where the latter after wiretapping in Italy of the Habilja group was taken as a defendant and then sentenced to 3.4 years in prison for abuse of office.

While a year ago criminal proceedings were registered in Albania for wiretapping published by the prosecution but also the Italian media regarding the communications of the Italian mafia clan Ndragheta with some important names in our country.

At that time SPAK said that it has launched an investigation on 25.01.2021, for the criminal offenses "Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions", "Structured criminal group", "Laundering the proceeds of crime or criminal activity" committed in within the structured criminal group and "Committing criminal offenses by a criminal organization and a structured criminal group".

After receiving information about the case published in the Italian media, Spak will decide whether we will have another criminal proceeding or not in this case.
