The Ambassador of the United States of America, Jeffrey Hovenier, after the meeting with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that it is urgent to reduce the tensions in the north.
In a statement to journalists, he said that the meeting with the head of the government of Kosovo was productive.
He has informed that he has repeated the demands that the mayors of the municipalities in the north exercise their duties from other facilities and not from the municipal facilities, as well as for the police to be withdrawn from the municipal facilities.
The American ambassador also said that the USA wants the implementation of the Brussels and Ohrid agreements.
"We also talked about the importance of moving forward with the implementation of the Basic Agreement for the normalization of Kosovo-Serbia relations. I expressed my concerns about the situation in the north. We encourage the Government of Kosovo to help reduce tensions and for the Government of Serbia to take steps to help achieve a better situation in the north", he said.
