The deputy of the Democratic Party, Jorida Tabaku, raised the alarm yesterday, while stating that Albania is the most corrupt country in the Western Balkans. Through a post on her "Facebook" page, Ms. Tabaku states that the tax system favors the oligarchy and not competition. "What can a middle class do today? Can he buy a house without having a high interest rate on his head because house prices have skyrocketed?! No! Is there a better salary and more income than yesterday? No! The income of Albanians is the lowest in the region. Is his ability taxed more than the businesses of oligarchs? Yes! Today, the middle class is taxed at 23%. A special law will tax self-employed entrepreneurs at 23% as well, while oligarchs are given unlimited tax amnesties. Albania is the least suitable country for doing business in the region.
