Sterilization scandal/ Security measures are being taken today for former deputy minister Rrapaj and businessman Rrapaj

On Tuesday, October 3, it was planned to hold a court session in charge of 8 people who are accused of the sterilization concession scandal.

It is about one of the biggest affairs within the Department of Health, while the former deputy minister was also taken into custody together with his friend from the department, businessman Ilir Rrapaj.

The hearing for 6 of the 8 persons accused in this case, who appealed the security measures given by the Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, is expected to take place today, after it was announced that the reason for the reassessment of measure was the delegitimization of lawyers.

The former Deputy Minister of Health Klodian Rjepaj, the businessman who won the tender Ilir Rrapaj together with Marsela Serjani, Saimir Kadiu, Arben Gjata and Genc Burazeri are the people who complained about the measures in the Special Appeal.

While Naile Ajazi and Petro Mersini, who are under the obligation to appear, have not appealed. The sterilization concession has put the former Minister of Health Klodian Rjepaj and businessman Ilir Rrapaj behind bars. The former deputy minister will face justice with the charges of "falsification of documents" and "misuse of office", while businessman Ilir Rrapaj for "fraud with serious consequences".

SPAK INVESTIGATIONS

Former Deputy Minister of Health, Klodjan Rjepaj, and businessman Ilir Rrapaj, the owner of the company "Investital LLC", were arrested by order of SPAK for the sterilization concession worth 100 million euros.

Businessman Rjepaj was on vacation in Dhërmi when he was handcuffed on August 16 of this year, after he refused to appear to testify at SPAK regarding the concession procedures for personalized sterilization of disposable surgical equipment.

Meanwhile, it was learned that the former Deputy Minister of Health, Klodian Rjepaj, was in charge of the public procurement commission when the competition for the concession was opened. At the request of the prosecutor Edvin Kondili, the Judge of GJKKO, Erion Bani, assigned security measures to 6 other people, officials of the Ministry of Health, who were members of the Sterilization Tender Commission.

"House arrest" was assigned to Saimir Kadiu, economic director and Marsela Serjanaj, legal director at the Ministry of Health. As for the doctor Arben Gjata, acting chief of surgery and rector of the University of Medicine, Naile Ajazi, Genc Byrazeri and Petro Mersini, former director general of the Hospital Service at the Ministry of Health, a "compulsion to appear" measure has been set.
