"Like a Nastradini nail"/ Minister Spiropali reveals where the "Beleri" issue originates: The relationship between the two countries...

The Minister of State for Relations with the Parliament, Elisa Spiropali, has stated that the issue of the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, who is in prison on the charge of vote buying, has its origin in the decision of Berisha and Meta to run for him.
Spiropali made the comments on News 24, where he said that the issue of "Beleri" belongs to justice and should not affect the breakdown of relations between the two countries, Albania and Greece.
"It is an issue that has its origins in the decision of Berisha and Meta to run for a man regardless of his past and records. It is a Nastradini nail that takes a lot of patience to pull out. It is not an issue between Greece and Albania, of the Greek minority in Albania, which is a community that has contributed the same as other ethnicities here, and that there is no difference. The Beleri issue is a matter of justice, and we expect that it will be resolved and that the relationship between the two countries will not be affected by the shadows of the past and nationalism will emerge.
We have no debate, even less with Greece. There are heated debates and it is a classic case of the transmission of an internal problem of the Albanian opposition in our foreign policy, and we must definitely remove this nail. It's a matter of justice and it's not up to me to decide when a mayor who considers himself Greek or Albanian gets out of prison or not," she said.
Spiropali also touched on Albania's relationship with Kosovo, as well as the "clashes" between Prime Minister Rama and Kurti.
She stated that Albania has been and will always be by Kosovo's side, as she adds that she does not prefer to comment on the decisions made by Prime Minister Kurti on delicate issues in the North.
"Albania supports Kosovo without any reservation in the effort to recognize and guarantee the security of borders and further integration. It became clear at the meeting of the Security Council, where Rama clearly said that Albania is the strongest advocate of Kosovo.
Then the approaches to the dialogue process or other issues, I don't believe are for me to discuss. I have no comment on Kurti's positions because he has the legitimacy and responsibility for these very delicate issues. For us, what does not change is that Kosovo won its independence with blood but also with the help of allies, the EU and the USA, and that we must be in line with them when we enter into such delicate negotiations. Kosovo should be recognized and continue the integration processes. We will support him everywhere," she said.
