"Clashes affect membership", opposition movements, the EU Ambassador

With the message that the tensions in the parliament will affect the integration process, the ambassador of the European Union demands that the parties return the parliament to normality. According to him, the opposition must return to normal discussions of laws, but the conditions must also be created for this to happen. In a statement to the media, he says that the assembly is the place where the deputies should listen to each other and where the initiatives are approved in the right way.

Tensions in the Assembly and the adoption of laws without being debated and discussed will weigh on the integration process.

EU Ambassador in Tirana Silvio Gonzato expresses his concern about this situation.

Ambassador Silvio Gonzato: "As you can see it is not an ideal situation and this is the message we continue to send. And for the accession process, the parliament should work normally. Where people listen to each other, discuss and make sure that decisions are made in the right way, that's all we can say."

Laws that pass only with majority votes for the EU ambassador remain legitimate, but not ideal.

For this, he demands that the opposition become part of the discussions, but also the creation of conditions for them.

Ambassador Silvio Gonzato:
"I think that the decisions are important, of course taken sovereignly by Albania. But it is not ideal if the opposition is not involved or does not involve itself. We must create the conditions for this to happen."

In November, the diplomats accredited in Tirana expressed concern about the tensions in the parliament and asked for dialogue to normalize the situation.

The US, Great Britain, German and Italian embassies emphasized that the parties must find a common way to guarantee that the parliament can exercise its supervisory role and act in the interest of all citizens.

But since then, nothing has changed, while laws are discussed in online commissions and approved in sessions that last no more than 15 minutes.
