European Parliament approves report to grant EU candidate status ...

The European Parliament has approved by 529 in favor, 45 against and 14 abstentions the report in which it seeks immediate granting of EU candidate status to Ukraine, Moldova and Moldova.

The report also shows the House's willingness to grant status to Georgia once the necessary reforms have been completed.

The deputies claim that "in the context of the brutal Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, this election would show leadership, determination and foresight."

But they stress "that there is no accelerated procedure for EU membership" and that this remains a merit-based process.
