Jorida Tabaku resigned in the early hours of this morning as the vice president of the Democratic Party.
Her decision came after a tense 6-hour meeting at the PD presidency, where in the end 17 members voted for the immediate opening of the race and the holding of elections for party chairman on July 29.
At the beginning of the meeting, she did not even accept the proposal made by the general secretary of the Democratic Party, Gazmend Bardhi, to be the commanding chairman of the party until the election of the new chairman.
"There is nothing wrong with having ambitions in politics, it is human, but in the situation we are in, I believe that the common interest prevails more than the personal one, and for this reason: I have decided not to accept the proposal of Mr. Bardhi for the commanding direction of the Democratic Party", said Tabaku, who also made a proposal to hold branch elections first and then open the race for chairman.
