The head of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, has stated in his speech from the floor of the Assembly where the joint session between the Assemblies of Kosovo and Albania is being held, that we must learn from our mistakes or else we will repeat them.

He added that the nation is not a political trophy, but it is above all politics.

"We are the oldest nation in the Balkans. Today we are two states and a divided nation. If we do not learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it. One day we will be together in the EU, an obligation to history and those who made history sacrificed their lives.

How can we stop the hemorrhaging of our nation with the youth leaving? How can we preserve our values ??and traditions on the European road and not turn into mere numbers? We live in a region with new and old conflicts. Serbia spends 3 percent of its budget on the purchase of weapons from Russia and China. What will she threaten?
Serbia provokes in the north of Kosovo and is supported by Russia and uses the same rhetoric as Russia in Ukraine.

We cannot seek understanding with others and opponents if we do not have understanding with each other. The nation is not a political trophy, it is above all politics.
Any opening policy or our cooperation should stop Russia's influence in the region.
This world does not start and end with us, we must be the ones who find the place that belongs to us. To be together as Albanians, whether we like each other or not.
