The agreement with Albania for migrants, Meloni praises Rama for the neighboring media: Inspiration for other countries as well!

The agreement with Albania for migrants, Meloni praises Rama for the neighboring

The Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, during an interview with the journalist Maurizio Belpietro, in the framework of the "Il giorno della verita" event, praised her counterpart Edi Rama. She emphasized the serious problems that Italy faces in terms of migratory flows, stressing that the agreement with Albania for migrants has served as an inspiration for other countries as well, according to the official website of the Italian government.

"Agreements with North African countries are not possible, they are necessary and are one of the main issues that Italy has brought to the table of the European Union. I have tried to make the approach to migration issues in the EU a topic in our talks," Meloni emphasized.

"This is what Europe is doing today, despite the arrows of the left. No agreement with Tunisia, no agreement with Egypt, even less with the one with Albania to process the requests of asylum seekers in Albania. Because it is not clear what the proposal of the left is. I have not yet understood what their solutions are to this problem, they just tell us that we should cancel those agreements. So let's ditch the pact with Tunisia, we don't have to talk to Libya. According to them, we are far from implementing the principles of the rule of law with Albania", emphasized Meloni

"Let's say that everything possible has been done to slow down our work, but we continue to do that work and the results come slowly, right? Not as fast as we all hoped, but the results are coming. To date, illegal migrants on the Central Mediterranean route have decreased by more than 60% compared to the same period a year ago. So, little by little, this work is bearing fruit and it is a path already followed in the European Union. Therefore, I am confident that thanks to the vote of the citizens, we can finally tell Europe that this is the path to follow", appealed the prime minister.

"The debate is not how to redistribute them, the debate is how to treat them before they leave", she underlined.

"All commissioners and all European leaders ask 'is the agreement with Albania outside the rule of law?', hoping that someone would say that it is outside the rule of law. It is not outside the rule of law, it is completely feasible and I also tell you this: if it works, it can be a model and an inspiration for some other countries that are asking us how this works", added Meloni.
