Former Finance Minister Arben Malaj was invited this Tuesday to "Now with Erla Mëhillin" on Euronews Albania to talk about the legalization of gambling.
He said that personally he has always hated gambling and never tried to try his luck in them, but they should be legalized urgently, since according to him, in this form they are 100% informal.
According to the former minister, if they are legalized, informality will decrease to 30-40%, which is the general level of informality in Albania.
"I personally hate games of chance and I have never tried to try my luck in them, but their legalization is necessary regardless of the question marks, for the level of performance of the public administration, we are in conditions where 100% of it is informal.
When they have operated with a license, the informality rate may have been 30-40% as much as the informality rate in general. So the questions about how it will continue in the future do not justify it. It will manage to be formalized to the degree that the Albanian economy is being formalized", said Arben Malaj.
