About 46,000 citizens of Kukes Municipality have started going to the ballot boxes today to elect the new local leader, after the dismissal of Safet Gjic, involved in a sexual scandal.
The ballot boxes were opened at 07:00 in the morning, while the voting process is expected to close at around 19:00.
The candidate of the Socialist Party has called on the citizens of Kuksi not to hesitate to participate in the elections. Albert Halilaj gave the comment after voting himself, adding that a model campaign was held in Kukës this month.
"From the citizens, I expect a massive participation in the voting to choose the right alternative, a boy who will serve Kukes. I congratulate the citizens of Kukës, it is the only campaign in 30 years, that we have not had an incident, I congratulate them for the values ??they have conveyed. I invite them to vote for the best alternative for Kukës", said Halilaj.
Journalist Ardit Hoxha reported from Kukës that the total participation in the entire municipality is reported to be a lower participation compared to the May 14 elections.
Thus, if by 10:00 in the May 14 elections, 9.95 percent of voters had voted, at the same time in today's elections, it is reported that 8.33 percent of them voted.
