Analyst Fatos Lubonja has stated that the arrested former FBI official, McGonigal, received 225 thousand dollars from Albanian officials, just to investigate the opposition.

Lubonja made the comments while he was invited to the "Opinion" column in Neës24, where he commented on the accusations against the former high official of the FBI, Charles McGonigal and his connection with Prime Minister Rama and Albania.

Lubonja asked the Albanian judiciary that Rama be investigated and added that if the US is serious about the fight against corruption in the Balkans, it should declare "non grata" the prime minister of Albania.

Fatos Lubonja: He has two charges but both are different, the character connects them but one is filed by the New York Prosecutor's Office which is not with the Russian oligarch and the payments received to remove him from the list of US sanctions and the second it is the accusation from Washington related to Albania, the meetings with the prime minister, the 225 thousand dollars received by the employee of the intelligence service to lobby for oil and the investigation against the opposition in that famous investigation.

A prime minister may have been connected with the institutions of an allied country, the problem here is that Rama's relations with this person are not institutional and registered on both sides. The former FBI official did not inform the Bureau that he came here, took money or who he met. Regarding Rama, we are dealing with something that the Prosecutor's Office must investigate because we are dealing with a connection with the Albanian businessman who paid 225 thousand dollars to the FBI man for Rama's direct and indirect interests.

The first interest in the official influencing the FBI to open an investigation into DP and Russian lobbying, and this was not set in motion by a corrupt connection. This is Rama's direct interest in this matter.

Kur Rama me favore e para korrupton një funksionar kaq të rëndësishëm, kur ne presim që FBI të pastrojë korrupsioni këtu, kur ky korrupton FBI imagjino çfarë i bën BKH e të tjerëve.

Ajo që është thelbi i historisë dhe që është dramatike, është që kemi një kryeministër që punën e tij kryesore që mendon natë e ditë nuk është si ti shërbejë shqiptarëve, por si të sigurojë pushtetit më korrupsion intelektualë, ambasadorë, zyrtarë të tillë.

Lubonja: Nëse amerikanët duan të jenë koherentë dhe të luftojnë korrupsionin në Ballkan sepse prek interesat e tyre, është rasti që ta aplikojnë edhe ndaj Ramës. Jo vetëm ka bërë korrupsion ndaj shqiptarëve që ka krijuar një sistem të tillë, por ka bërë korrupsion në zemrën e shtetit amerikan, në FBI. Në këtë aspekt kjo është një çështje sensitive për ta nëse duan të jenë koherent me atë që kanë deklaruar për luftën ndaj korrupsionit. Jam dyshues sepse SHBA janë pragmatiste dhe për interesa gjeostrategjike kanë mbyllur edhe të dy sytë.

Amerika ka interesa ndaj Shqipërisë se psh Rama mori muxhahedinët, mori 4 mijë afganë, ka marrë politika pro amerikane, shihni luftën në Ukrainë.

Lubonja: Pa dyshim që po. Po përpiqen ta shfrytëzojnë sipas mendimit tim edhe duke i ngatërruar disa gjëra.
