After a marathon session accompanied by heated debates, which lasted over 14 hours, the Parliament approved the Durres Port Project.
The project was voted with 74 votes in favor and 35 against, while Prime Minister Edi Rama was not present.
Yesterday's session (November 24) was accompanied by fierce debates and accusations from the opposition, which considers the Durrës Port project as one of the biggest affairs.
For his part, Prime Minister Edi Rama in a long speech defended this project, saying that it is historic, and stated that it will be done even without the opposition's wishes.
The project is expected to be developed on a land area of ??812,600 m2, since the investment is transferred to the ownership of the companies. 12,000 apartments and 2 hotels with 850 rooms in total are planned. The first phase starts in 2023 and lasts for 5 years, the investment is about 1.5 billion euros and the agreement has a lifespan of 35 years, from which the government has 33.3% of the dividend.
