Journalist Elton Qyno, in a TV interview, clarified whether it is possible that former Minister of the Interior Saimir Tahiri can return to politics.
He said that the case is in the high court and he will be acquitted of the 3 charges, then there is no obstacle for him to take public office.
Qyno: The case is in the high court and if it will be considered and he will be declared innocent of the 3 charges, legally he is not prohibited to run for public office or in the Socialist Party. He was the chairman of the SP for Tirana and a former minister of the interior with this party and has great political support.
The conviction prevents him from taking public office today. If the court declares him innocent, the portion of the prison term is equal to zero, and there is no doubt that his political image is broken, he is not hindered at all from competing for any political post or deputy mandate.
