Development of education in Albania, future challenges and perspectives
Written by Lulzime Zhuku 13 Shkurt 2024
The management and direction of educational institutions in Albania is an important process that aims to provide a suitable learning environment for students and promote the quality of education. Education in Albania is a field that faces many challenges and problems. These start from the low level of the quality of education, where despite large investments, Albania still faces the lack of quality in the education system. The problem begins with large classes with a high number of students, which prevent teachers from ensuring an effective prediction of learning and individual commitment to each student. On the other hand, many schools in Albania need renewal of teaching materials, especially in the fields of technology and computer science. Modern technology, such as computers and internet connectivity, are still not available in most schools, hindering their effective use in teaching. Likewise, education in Albania needs greater investments to improve school infrastructure, teacher training and the provision of necessary teaching materials. Mention here that according to experts, Albania still faces high levels of functional illiteracy, where students learn to read and write, but do not understand and use these skills effectively in their daily lives. To address these issues, significant steps are needed to improve teacher training, investments in infrastructure and technology, and clear policies to address the needs of differently abled students. Cooperation between educational institutions, the community and government authorities is also important to increase the quality of education in Albania. But even though there are problems, education in Albania has progressed significantly in recent years. Investments in the education sector have increased to improve infrastructure, curriculum, teacher training and teaching materials. In recent years, new programs are being implemented in the learning and development of students' skills, adapting to the times. New schools have also been built and new laboratories and libraries have been built. Vocational and technical schools have also been established. Albania has opened specialized schools in various fields, such as engineering, tourism, gastronomy, which provide opportunities for training directly on the job. Also, Albanian students have the opportunity to study in other foreign universities through exchange programs, scholarships and the Erasmus+ program. On the other hand, improving the training and status of teachers has increased the quality of teaching and learning in Albanian schools. Finally, there is the increase in knowledge of foreign languages. Learning foreign languages ??has become an important part, helping students improve communication and feel prepared for the world's job market.
