The majority, democracy, civilization and citizenship!

The majority, democracy, civilization and citizenship!

Of course, the majority in power and administration, and this is the principle of democracy that comes with elections. But who chooses? Citizen of course. But what cultural, educational and political life level does this citizen and this majority have? This is exactly the argument. On the way after two old people! One says to the other: listen, my friend, our democracy is not for the "citizen", the citizen! Democracy is with the majority! Citizens in Albania will be a minority for a long time. In Denmark yes. . . the majority there are citizens. I passed them and did not turn my head to recognize them. It seemed to me that it was me (although old and me) who was unclear! Yes, he needed a lecture. I actually got it for free. I was not doubting democracy but the society that implements democracy and especially the citizen. That is, the cultured and the educated. The citizen who has (x years) of urbanity and civilization and the one in Denmark that the old man in front of me was talking to on the street. As a friend of mine once said, who is no longer alive today: democracy is not how many parties you have, but how many citizens you are! And he was definitely right. But there is another (exaggeration) that says: The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter! Said by a super politician like Winston Churchill should impress us. Pirandello's argument is the majority in democracy. He says: The real cause of all our troubles, of this sadness of ours, do you know what it is? Democracy, my dear, democracy, that is the rule of the majority. Because when the power is in the hand of only one, this one knows that he is one and that he must make many happy; but when many rule, they think only of pleasing themselves, and then we have the coarsest and most hateful tyranny: tyranny masquerading as freedom. It's about to make you look grotesque with the ridicule that comes from the majority as a waste of freedom that democracy should do. But we need this citizen who does not enjoy himself, only for himself and who is the majority. Citizens of a civilized society, i.e. people who behave civilly, are not the result of chance, but are the result of an educational process. And what does a civilized manner of behavior essentially consist of? It is about reducing violence, yes, so says Karl Popper. Process so process. Long enough for a non-urban society, with school or education education started late, that urbanity is also late to become civilized. Until then, the majority in our democracy will exercise its main competence! Yes, not the civil one.
