Gjino's neck in Saranda, like the "goose's neck"

The road segment, Kardhiq-Saranda, is one of the roads that was completed after a long time. The most problematic part was the opening of the Skrfica tunnel, the most difficult and expensive segment, however, to make this segment of national interest for tourism passable, deadlines were set and implemented. Thus, the road became accessible as early as July 2, 2022. For the inauguration of this segment, especially the over 1300-long tunnel, a celebration was held with the participation of hundreds of residents, who celebrated and appreciated this engineering work that softens the passage of stiff neck, especially during winter. One pass, that of Skërfica, was crossed and the vehicles started to move, leaving the Muzina road segment, which is known by everyone for the difficulties it creates for the vehicles passing on this road. In addition to the many twists and turns, the route to Tirana and other cities of Albania was shortened. But in this road segment, this is not the only neck. Others meet during the journey to the city of Saranda. One of them is Qafa e Gjinos, just a few kilometers from the city of Saranda, adjacent to the village of Shelgar. From July 2022 to today, approximately one year has passed. The entire segment from Kardhiqi to Gajdar Bridge, where a sign has been placed indicating the construction company, the extension period, i.e. the deadlines and the value of the investment, work has also begun on the lowering of the Gjino's Neck, a segment close to two km with steep downhill slopes and mountainous uphills, where heavy construction equipment poured endless concrete, making this segment impassable. Precisely, lowering the height significantly, of course, it required its own time, and this has caused this segment to not be completed yet, and the entire road will be circled. As long as the opening of the tunnel took, so does the Gjino Pass, which during these days is covered by white clouds of dust. When it rains, the pits are filled with water pools. On the part of the company, the layers have been laid on the body of this road, but the asphalting has not yet been completed. Drivers say that we are covered by dust that rises high into the sky, turning our vehicles from black to reddish or white. You have to leave the car when you leave and when you come back, otherwise you can't enter the city because it fills the streets with dust. There are days that some vehicles come around without doing anything in this road segment. We are on the verge of the tourist season. Even after opening the hatch, this neck, i.e. Gino's Neck, it showers dust on anyone who passes through this segment. Especially motorcyclists who come endlessly from Vlora or Tirana. Those dressed in black suits change into white and when they land in the center of Saranda, they are forced to shake off their dusty clothes. When you look at Gjino's Pass, it seems like you are experiencing the legend of Rozafa, as this has not been finished for months, I remember the words of an old road specialist, who told me in amazement, this segment would have been open even with a bridge for so long and dynamite. Just the old methods, yes very safe. Dozens of tools work here and still the neck remains in place count. This delay in opening and laying the layers of the road or its protection and now for months due to the lack of asphalting, it's turning into gangrene for all the drivers and the surrounding villages that are covered in dust and the road looks like a passage through sand dunes in the desert. That's why everyone rightly says: This famous neck of Gjino has become like a goose's neck, stuck in our throat. Let's believe that the construction company will provide a solution before the fall to this gangrene that does not serve either tourism or tourists. On the contrary, it seems that everyone is horrified by the dust that rises in a plume towards the sky, polluting its own blueness. Drivers rightly ask: Until when? When do you plan to cut the cervical ribbon? A question that requires an urgent solution. Otherwise, a problem is added to tourism. One more lack for touristic Saranda!
