When they don't even succeed in the party, how can they succeed in Albania?

Written by Nga Bardhyl Bejko 15 Mars 2023

Before every electoral campaign for general and local government elections, political parties display their motto, which is also the essence of commitment, the generalizing content sentence of political action, the symbolism that guides all political activity to achieve the highest indicators in choice. The Democratic Party over the years has been guided by motives that have served the mobilization and implementation of ideas, programs and projects, goals to mobilize all human resources, to motivate the party structures, its membership and supporters to walk the path to power in their election and victory. The motto of the first years of this political force remains in the memory of the citizens, where the slogan "We love Albania like all of Europe" or "Wellbeing, work, dignity", "We are the future, we are the change" and dozens of such significant logos, which have really served PD as the first opposition force after the fall of the communist system and the installation of multi-party pluralism in Albania, as a spirit for voter mobilization. But the announced mottos, which are the concentrated content expression of all political developments, orientation milestones and their journey towards the realization of concrete goals and objectives to win the elections, not always the selected mottos are findings that harmonize the form with the content, the goals with the achievements, today with the perspective. Reality with wishes, emotions in front of the truth. Quite often there is a discrepancy and extreme subjectivity between what is intended with the slogans that become the leitmotif of the political action and the real situation of the political forces. If we refer to today's slogan of the PD, the opposition part represented by "Rithemelimi" led by Sali Berisha: "Let's get out, Lord Albania" and the real situation in which the opposition finds itself, the battles that are taking place today in the heart of the Democratic Party, the energies that are spent to gain the upper hand against the official DP is the epic battle with the other side to dominate the party at any cost. The war, for more than a year, between the parts of this political force has divided the PD to such an extent that it has caused a serious shock in the membership from the simple base to the leadership dome, as well as the group of deputies. The climax of the irritation and the fight between the parties for the dominance of the party reached on January 8, 2022, where the parties were violently confronted, involved in a physical fight for life and death, where there was no lack of violence of canes, sticks, batons, tear gas, breaking windows and collapsing doors and an entire arsenal of "weapons" reminiscent of the first centuries of human history in the primitive era, where the weapons in the battles that took place were exactly those of wood and later of bronze and iron. Attacks on the DP headquarters were unknown in our country, at least in the last century, where pre-politics and violence took the place of dialogue, debate, compromises and political agreements, even more so within the bosom of a political party. Since then, the internal war has deepened the rift, pitting the parties against each other in a showdown of strength and disagreements that are unlikely to ever heal. The worm has entered deep and is eroding the walls and columns on which politics is made, victory strategies are built and election campaigns are conducted. today, when less than two months separate us from the day when the local government elections will take place, where the opposition, through its own fault after the political suicide of boycotting the elections, has been out of the local government for eight years, unrepresented in the country's municipalities, comes to this important political action shattered. The two DPs have lost not only the cohesion between them, but also their allies, who have left them and are today at a distance which is deepening day by day. Those who became deputies with the votes of militants and DP supporters, have quickly distanced themselves from the common house, feeling that the earthquake is coming and they do not want to remain under the ruins. Their departure even though MPs under the DP logo, who failed to get even 300 preferential votes, are now running under the motto "O men, come out, whoever comes out". It is precisely in such a rift, almost torn apart, that PD enters the campaign unmotivated, divided and crushed by the war within the species. In this year of the battle to dominate the party, Berisha, more than the fight with Edi Rama, even though the slogan has a minute refrain to overthrow the dictatorial regime, continues to walk rapidly on the path of confrontation for the dominance of the party to show Albanians that the real opposition is the part he leads. Although before the elections after 8 years to win the municipalities that have directed human and political energies for years, resources, years of experience are mercilessly consumed to grab the seal, the sigla and the seat, leaving the rest in the seat for rent. Berisha's call, "either with me or with the enemy", meaning the duo, Alibeaj-Basha, labeled hostages of Rama, there are more than a thousand statements that unfold from the stands and the meetings held by the head of "Reestablishment" and the partner of the Meta coalition. The battle has moved indoors. The pillars and columns that hold up this political edifice are crumbling. The divided parts in DP run in different directions in the country, so that they were united, compact, clear in the most important action, that of the elections, which are not just local, but due to the circumstances that are taking place, they have taken on dimensions and deeply political character since the boycott of four years ago. Exactly, this division, this unprincipled war, without any principles, according to the style, to fall on each other, to occupy the party, to dominate the situation, shows in the light of the sun how empty and subjective Berisha's propaganda and strategy has been for compacting the party and uniting in a single front against the majority to bring the opposition to power. In the endless declarations of victory, although fragmented and divided, left and right, where one hits the nail and the other the horseshoe, when each changes the water line to direct it to his own mill, they speak of unprecedented victory, they guarantee that 15 May will mark the end of the regime and the installation of people's power. That the municipalities will go to the opposition in all the big cities from Tirana to Elbasan, Korça and Durrës. They really do politics, and even politics has a damn moral. There is idealism and sincerity. No one in this country can believe that division brings triumph and unity defeat. It is paradoxical, the call that sounds like, long live the schism! In the devil's stick, the union that really cannot be articulated in words, is being engraved daily with the actions of the opposition leadership. Scanned the opposition, especially the two DPs that are facing each other in different trenches like a crushed mosaic, is almost worthless, the slogan that accompanies Berisha in meetings and speeches in the unveiling of the objective for victory on May 14 with the motto " Let's get out Lord Albania". Every Albanian, no matter how far from politics, leftist, rightist, without political conviction, militant, member or supporter of a political force, every individual with a minimum of intelligence, after becoming familiar with this proclaimed motto, says: "Good, oh good than these of the "Reestablishment" will come to Albania, which is considered by them to be in free fall, without management, with a lack of direction that has fallen into the hands of the "bandits" and criminals of Edi Rama, pretend to change Albania, how will they achieve it? When they don't fix their house? When their foundations are broken and their roofs have fallen when they clash with each other and are divided and divided and they have not been able to unite and heal it, how can they heal and heal Albania? Those who do not manage to lead the party, unite and unify it, compact it and guide it towards victory, how can the Albanians believe that they will lead the homeland, the country of the people? So, Albanians, look at those who swear that they will become lord of the country, how they have inside the house and think and judge how they can become lord of Albania?! They are really incredible for what they are, not for what they sell, and they boast endlessly that they will make Albania a lady!
