National and universal...

Regarding the relationship between tradition and innovation, national and universal, I have always exchanged thoughts with friends and colleagues, especially with Professor Astrit Leka, and we have embraced without hesitation the idea that tradition and innovation are two things that serve us all. It is known that there is no absolute innovation, because innovation is related not only to innovation, but also to tradition. In education or science, the binomial tradition-innovation is axiomatic. As for the national - universal duo, the binomial has created and continues to create "tremors" in the minds and hearts of many. This reminds me of the famous formula of Nikolae Titulescu, graduate, foreign minister, university professor and Romanian academic, former president of the League of Nations in the period between the two world wars: "...Every natural path for the elevation of a nation is that which goes from the provincial to the national and, through the national, to the universal". (Nikolae Titulesku, Political-diplomatic works, volume I, Titulesku European Foundation, Bucharest, 2003, p. 199).

But, in our days there is an opinion, unfortunately very widespread, according to which the national and the universal are opposed to each other; that the nationalist is like the Cro-Magnon man, while the universal man is only the one who will not know about mother and father, nor about nation, about borders, about anything... being, just like a computer, easily connected in each outlet. It is precisely these birbos who, if we come out in defense of the Albanian issue, describe us as carriers of fanatical and ultranationalist isms.

History has proven that genuine nationalism, which should not be confused with chauvinism nor opposed to universalism, is the expression of the cultural contribution that each people with its national culture can bring to the treasure of universal civilization.

It has been said that the world or universal culture is a wonderful white light that, - physicists have discovered, - consists of a multitude of colors or shades - let's say some seven thousand of them - conventionally wrapped up in seven colors. These gracious rays help us to see each other as we are, both beautiful, and ugly, and mixed, not in the sense of some figures of five percent Albanian culture, thirty-five Russian, fifty-five French, etc., but in the sense that, at the top of the transgeographical, religious, linguistic universal culture, every culture reinvents itself. In this direction, the national, by no means as a temporary or fashionable fad, would constitute the foundation of the "spiritualization" of the borders, that is, not simply the removal of barriers and visas. This "spiritualization," as it has been asserted, is not a modern riddle, as some think, but a formula with a guaranteed future.

Cultural evolution of a nation in a certain political-social climate, there will be in the future as well. Therefore, even for a certain historical time, not a short one, the national team has to bring help, exactly like that of any musical instrument in a symphony orchestra. It can be said that the overall result is the euphony of a symphony that is obtained both from the drum, and from the vibration of the violin strings, and from the cymbal, that is, from the whole ensemble (See: Vasile Popa, Kopi Kyçyku, Makina ? shin spresa, trilingual edition , Haemus Plus, Bucharest, 2004, p. 17).

With this eye, the relationship between the national and the universal should be examined, carrying it into political life as well. Of course, the issue is raised and extended at the cultural level, as an aid to universal euphony.
