Starting from the violence used against children in recent days, I wanted to address this problem with facts and figures.
1-Violence is a destructive force. It is the "Strength" of the weak, it begins where reason ends. It is unacceptable in principle, but in practice it is present everywhere. Childhood includes ages 1-11. It is a creature from the genetic code of two parents. According to Freud, the child resembles parents of the opposite sex. So the son to the mother and the daughter to the father. His formation is first influenced by the family, then the school and later, a little more, the society. If there is an innocent creature, it is the child, and yet they are subjected to all forms of violence, not only physical, but also psychological and sexual! In the state, we often hear the expression: "We need to take measures, we need education, we need maximum punishment, we need this and we need that!" In the end, nothing! Children are abused, life has proven this. Civil society is content with a few faint protests. Violence starts in the nursery, there are plenty of cases. We count 81 cases in violation of the law. We also have 63 nurseries without a license, 40 in Tirana, 11 in Durrës. Since they opened, I don't know what to say!-Violence against children is punishable. Let's expand on this topic on the "World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse".
2 Types of violence.- Children are abused physically, psychologically, sexually. Our country remains the country with the highest number of malnourished and abused children in Europe. This conclusion was reached by the international organization for the protection of children "Save the Children", which evaluated the access of children to health care, education and protection from harmful practices such as work, marriages and early pregnancies in 176 countries of the world, Albania ranks 61. Violence is also a moral and ethical attack on our most precious values. Physical violence. Being born into poverty increases the risk of childhood violence which increases the chances of living in poverty as an adult. Moreover, physical violence can create psychological damage as well as physical damage. Likewise, the effects of psychological violence can also appear physically. This is present everywhere in us, school, family, society. Sexual violence. The reports of several governments in the European Union and international non-governmental organizations estimate that over 5,000 children from Albania are victims of international trafficking. The United Kingdom alone declares that every year over 600 people from Albania are victims of trafficking to this country, most of them girls. Albania also has a very high percentage of children who run away with their parents, as the 0-13 age group accounts for 26%. 70% of Albanian children have been abused in the family! Around 120 children are reported every year in Albania as lost and missing from their families. The United Kingdom, France, Italy and Belgium remain the main countries where children from Albania are trafficked for the purposes of sexual exploitation and forced labor by organized crime, drug and prostitution networks. Bullying. This was explained to me by two colleagues with experience as leaders in education, "Merited Teacher" Qani Zaimi in Skrapar and Hysen Guri with 50 years of experience in Berat. They emphasized: 'Bullying involves repeated physical, psychological or social harm, and often occurs in schools, kindergartens and other settings where children gather. The more we learn about the effects of violence on children, the clearer the measures to address it become. Both for the short term and the long term. Exposure to violence during childhood has extremely negative consequences for mental health." It has been proven that 1 in 5 children in our country is a victim of bullying. In Albania, the prevalence of students who have reported being raped is 19.9%, about 22.6% among boys and 17.3% among girls.
- Psychological violence
It must be recognized that violence against children occurs everywhere and creates pessimism about the end it can bring. Measures can and should be taken to prevent psychological violence against children and therefore one should never think about the inevitable. It can be caused as a result of experiencing extreme or constant violence during childhood. Depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders and suicide are related to psychological violence that was exercised during the formative years of childhood. Abused children are at risk of using alcohol, abusing illegal substances, and engaging in high-risk sexual activities in the years that follow. They can become uninitiative, scared, without courage, without courage, and subservient to anyone, but often aggressive.
3-Disturbing numbers. Social poverty forces children not to go to school, to work and become beggars. You can find them everywhere here. At traffic lights, streets, cafes, hospitals, churches, mosques, cemeteries, among the living and the dead! The first place is occupied by Roma children. Over 40 thousand children work. Over 600 children do not go to school because of blood feud. Albania also has a very high percentage of children who run away with their parents. About 120 children are reported every year in Albania as lost and missing from their families. The state, public and social institutions have the duty to respond to this desperate situation in which we find ourselves. Under these conditions: "Be peaceful, be kind, obey the law, respect everyone, do not do violence to anyone so that there is no violence. The power in defense of freedom is greater than the power in favor of tyranny and oppression, because true power comes from obedience!"
