Do we need a "friend" like the EU?

Since Albania entered the road to democratization in the 90s, our country has always desired and embraced Europe and Europeanization. Because Albania has been and is a vital part of this wavering and indecisive Europe, of this Europe aged by age and by ideas, which have been exhausted. I don't know why she acted like this with us, the Albanians, who are proponents of Europeanization and entry into the EU. Or better said, this EU does not want us in its bosom. I am convinced of this! Because from the beginning, Brussels has played and plays with us its controversial "Pull and don't tear" policy. He has always made the strangest excuses for Albania not to receive the status of a candidate country. He dragged it on purpose. (We received the status of a candidate country in 2014. Finally!!!) He has always put us before the fait accompli: Fight corruption! Rule of law! Justice reforms! Because supposedly the fight against corruption is one of its primary priorities in the field of justice and internal affairs. And she herself, what has she done? - Nothing! Zero! Let's take the latest case of corruption in Brussels offices, the so-called "Catargate". The Greek vice-president of the European Parliament, Eva Kaili, along with four other European officials, received bribes of thousands and thousands of euros to lobby in favor of Qatar. Their charge is participation in organized crime, money laundering and corruption. How paradoxical! Brussels, on the one hand, trumpets our respect for the law and the rule of law. Bring the corrupt to justice. On the other hand, Brussels itself violates this directive with all four feet. A beautiful European Parody! Has this superscandal ever been talked about in the corridors of the European Parliament? - No. A beautiful Albanian popular expression says: The greatest wonder lasts three days! And this "miracle" lasted for three days and it was fixed once and for all. As has always happened with EU scandals, for example with European funds dedicated to member countries. Let's not forget the increase in Russian gas and oil exports to the EU from 20% to 40%, when it annexed the Crimean peninsula in 2004, so that this Europe would shut its mouth before this illegal annexation. Not to mention the oil and gas rich but autocratic state of Azerbaijan, which through "caviar diplomacy" massively increased its gas and oil exports to the EU to avoid being sanctioned over press freedom. . Or let's not forget the scandal with the Santer Commission from the distant year 1999. Or the corrupt cases of French MEPs, which are still marked in Greek calendars. And how many other sporadic cases. As soon as the Russian aggression against Ukraine began, Brussels officials rushed back from Albania and the Balkans, because seeing the different trends in this very delicate region, they thought of luring him with some bone without meat, so that this region would not fall under the Russian, Chinese and Turkish, which have historically played and still play an important role. Seeing these trends, the EU hastened to organize the EU-Western Balkans summit on December 6, 2022 in Tirana. On purpose to show us, the Balkans, that the EU has the integration of Albania and the Balkans in the Union at heart and as a priority. In one of the points of the Declaration of Tirana, it is stated that the EU supports the essential European values ??and principles, also the repeated commitment of the partners of the Western Balkans to prioritize democracy, fundamental rights and values ??and the rule of law, including the separation of powers, the fight against corruption and organized crime, for increasing support for good governance, for human rights, gender equality and the rights of persons belonging to minorities. She also emphasized the fact that an empowered civil society and independent and pluralistic media are crucial components of any democratic system. It is very unfortunate that the EU, with such methods and ways, seeks to cast aspersions on us, the Albanians, and the Balkans. Because these rhetorics have always been said over and over and nothing concrete has been done. Words, words and only words. From all parties without exception. That's why we need a friend who encourages us, gives us strength and the desire to move forward... We need a friend who trusts us and trusts him. POINT!
